Ricky Cooper is a 23 year old singer/songwriter/guitar player from Peytona, WV. Since the day he received his first guitar at age 11 from his Mamaw and Papaw Petry, music then became his passion. Ricky is self taught in guitar and says he feels most comfortable on stage in front of a crowd.
 

Ricky has won several talent shows and enjoys playing fairs and festivals in his home state of WV. Ricky loves to write his own songs and two among his favorites are "That Old Six String" about his new Gibson that his mom and dad bought him for Christmas and "The Road", one about all of the traveling and singing that he loves so much.

 

Ricky attended the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in June of 2014 where he was chosen among the top 13 singers in the competition. He has been recently named WV's First Redneck Idol of 2015 where he was given the opportunity to sing with one of his favorite bands The Davisson Brothers. Ricky was among the top 12 participants for WV's Got Talent 2015. He then was chosen as the Coal Field Idol Winner of 2015 where he opened for Andy Griggs and The Marshall Lowry Band. Ricky also won the TCR Country Showdown in Ashland, KY on July 4th 2015 and will open for another one of his favorite bands A Thousand Horses.

 

Ricky likes to regularly perform for students and encourages them to always follow their dreams. He enjoys regular trips to Nashville where he appears on Nashville Spotlight and loves working with Mr. Mike Jennings. He loves going to the Grand Ole Opry and Ricky's dream is to one day get to perform on that stage!
